Bluetooth disappeared

Hey all! I am running into a weird issue where my bluetooth just up and disappeared on me. Currently I am running the following:

Windows 11
23H2
Framework 16" amd 7040

I use bluetooth for my mouse and headset and I have an Anker docking station that I use regularly. Yesterday I removed my laptop from the dock to do some work and once finished, I placed it back on the dock and left. This morning I came into work and none of my bluetooth devices are working. I go into settings and I try to connect a bluetooth device and my computer acts as though there is no bluetooth adapter. It looks like I’m running an old driver for the RZ616 but I have not been able to find where to download a newer version (Current version is 3.3.0.908 and it looks like it’s from 11/2023)

Hi @Thomas_Reid,

Unfortunately this is a common issue with many of of the Framework AMD laptops. It has something to do with either the drivers or the firmware in the wireless card itself that causes it to just disappear. Seems to be unique to the RZ616 card. I have had this same issue for quite a while with my Framework Laptop 16.

To remedy:

  1. Shutdown Windows
  2. Once powered off, unplug the power adapter if it is plugged into the laptop
  3. Wait 40 seconds for everything to fully turn off
  4. Plug the charger back in and press the power button; or just press the power button to start the laptop
  5. If it does not come back after the second time; then try holding down the left shift key when you click shutdown from Windows. This will force the OS to fully shutdown instead of basically hibernating the system

Sometimes mine goes days without it happening. Let us know how it turns out. :grinning:

Thanks! I had the same problem and unplugging did the trick :folded_hands:
