Which Framework Laptop 13 model are you using? (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series, Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 1, 13th Gen Intel® Core™ , 12th Gen Intel® Core™, 11th Gen Intel® Core™) AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series
Just got my framework a day ago, and started noticing when I do large downloads (seems to be over 4GB), the wifi suddenly drops and never comes back, only way it comes back is me having to restart the computer. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
Nix unstable 6.18.10 no firmware updates. 64gb amd AI 9 hx 370 latest bios.
if you watch signal it seems the driver or system has trouble maintaining signal % integrity, My system had a damaged antenna but after replacing the antenna the issue persisted. I am troubleshooting with windows and 2 other wifi cards. If your going to use Nix it seems disabling power management in wifi, setting region, and disabling pci power management in bios helps with stability but it will still occasionally drop or roam.
Others have said setting the router to 5ghz or a set ssid I also tried QCNCM865 which I can get faster speeds at 320 mhz but still some issues with connectivity. Turning power management off in the bios helps. I am testing it in windows but I am waiting for my framework 250gb drive as a windows OTG is slow and has some latency issues on my thumb drive. so I am hoping to have an update by next week. If you would Like I can post additional details here then. Others have said the Intel ax 210 has higher stability.
I will say framework after troubleshooted past the basics have taken the lead and are working with me towards finding a solution or further details despite nix not being as conventional linux os. typing this now 14 ft from my wifi on nix it bounces from 100%-80% signal disconnects roaming typically at 75-70% so its semi stable not great but usable results may vary the antenna is where f7-f12 is but under the screen at the bottom.
hope this helps. I use unifi with wifi 7 and in my other devices no signal stability or speed issues.
i have confirmed similar issues with mediatek and Qualcomm and intel 210 wifi % bounces about. with pci power management disabled in bios the intel and mediatek is stable despite fluctuating signal. the 320 mhz Qualcomm becomes usable but still roams or disconnects. tested all 3 in windows 11 with latest drivers and updates no issues on all 3 cards. however all 3 cards have high latency spikes 30 ms lows 77-90ms highs 1-14% re transmits. still trying to isolate cause
