Can a custom framework motherboard can be made for a non framework computer

would it be at all possible to get a custom framework motherboard that can run windows 10 or 11 for my non framework laptop so i could upgrade it to run better in the future? im doubting it but hoping i can, i really dont want to have to get a new laptop just to have to do it again later

converting my hp zbook 17 g3 to a have a custom framework motherboard so i can upgrade it in the future, so basically using the original case and having the motherboard, (and screen only if needed) be framework.

You wouldn’t be able to do that easily, no. Standard laptop keyboards and touchpads are not plug-and-play / just works.

And if by “a custom framework motherboard” you mean a unique Framework motherboard custom-made to fit exactly into your hp zbook laptop shell, it would cost way too much to have one made. If you mean adapting your zbook laptop shell to fit a standard Framework motherboard, that you could maybe do. The keyboard and touchpad would still be issues that need to be solved.

Designing hardware like mainboards is a multi-step process.

  1. schematic
  2. routing
  3. environmental testing, does it have enough cooling, vibration testing etc.

To change the mainboard dimensions so the it fits in a different laptop case requires at least (2) to be redone.
Unfortunately (2) is the most difficult and most time consuming step, thus making what you are asking, an expensive thing to do.
