Can a Framework 12 be converted into a 16?

I was wondering if anyone has tried converting a Framework 12 laptop to be compatible with the Framework 16 chassis?

I’m not familiar enough with modifying individual components, but I figured there could be someone out there that found a way to make a custom adapter for making the smaller board functional within the larger chassis. Maybe even 3d printing supports to make the chassis compatible.

I’m trying to figure out if gradually upgrading my Framework 12 piece by piece up to a Framework 16 is even possible.

They use completely different boards with different physical dimensions, number of ports, physical and electrical interfaces, etc. It’s not possble.

Since an actual conversion is impractical (virtually impossible), maybe another idea is simply to set aside a bit of money, as and when you can. Instead of buying a part and trying to adapt your FW 12 to it, just set aside that money. And at some point, once you have enough, buy the machine you want and sell the other one, or pass it along to a family member/friend, or something like that?
