The “charging” led (between the two expansion ports) on the right side of my Intel 12 gen is purple instead of white. It’s blinking amber while charging, but when fully charged, it shows purple. The one on the left side shows white while fully charged.
Does the purple colour mean anything?
Purple would be red and blue, maybe it’s just be the LED trying to show white and having the green component broken?
It turns out to be simpler than that: it seems to be a software issue with the EC. I powered down, unplugged, waited a few minutes for the charging controllers to power down, and then plugged the laptop back in and powered up. Now it’s white like it should be.
So I can conclude the purple means “charging system need to be cold-rebooted”.
