LEDs on the side

Hello everyone,

The FrameWork 16 has 2 lights on the sides, between the extension slots 1 and 2 as well as 4 and 5.
What do these mean? They seem to be able to display different colours and flashing patterns?

Orange is charging, white is fully charged

I renamed the thread to be a bit more descriptive and easier to find for other people

The diagnostic codes for the side LED are listed on a page of the Framework 13 knowledge base.
From what I have gathered and seen, the diagnostic codes should be the same for the FW16 or at least similar. But I am not 100% certain.

I am looking for a comprehensive guide to the LED blink codes. I’ve been searching for the last hour and have found lots of questions about specific patterns, a guide to LED patterns when it does not boot successfully and a list of #defines for the hex codes of bit patterns after an orange blink.

None of those contain what I am seeing. I could ask about the specific pattern that I am seeing, but what about next time if I see a different pattern? One thing I’ve learned is that there a LOT of patterns.

Is there a table/list of all the codes? This should be part of the standard documentation and readily available. Is there a diagnostics log/program , like the OBD in a car?

What I’m seeing: I set the charge limit to 80% and plugged it in, USB-C in slot 1. I didn’t use the computer yesterday. This morning, I see the left LED is alternating between red and blue (white?). it seems steady and I can’t discern any pauses or other colors. The blue/white is not white like the power button, but the blue is very light. So I’m not sure if it’s blue or white. The computer is otherwise working as normal, or seems to be.

If there isn’t one already, I hope FW will program to show any diagnostic error. Since it is blinking a code, something has an error status. Writing the error code and description to a log file should be pretty easy…maybe.

Thanks for your help.

PS, I have a FW13 Intel US1 running Ubuntu 24.04. Also I’ve seen green listed as an LED color in some posts. Is there a green or is it really blue?
