Constant freezes and reboots

I’ve been recently experiencing frequent freezes and reboots on my Desktop running Mint. The system is running latest firmware. Has anyone else run into this, or have tips on diagnosing?

Thanks.

Hi there. Based on what you’re experiencing, this is something our Support team is best equipped to look into, since they can check your hardware details and guide you through the right steps.

  • To get in touch with them, you can do the following:
  • From the forums, click Support at the top of the page.
  • Scroll all the way down.
  • Click Submit support request and fill out the form.
  • Then Submit it at the bottom.

Once that’s in, the Support team will review everything and get back to you as soon as possible. If anything else comes up or you need help finding the right page, just let us know

I get this as well, normally running Chrome in video calls, or some pages. I’m using Cachy. There is definitely something not right with a driver somewhere.

I have not had good luck with the support team in the past but will give it a try. Thanks.

What do you have plugged into the FW Desktop? One of those might be causing the problem.

There has recently been some progress on forced reboots etc. on the FW13/FW16 meaning that adding kernel parameters might help:
pcie_ports=native pcie_ecrc=on

Then look in the logs to see if there are any AER errors. If so, it might tell you what device is the cause. Once you know the device, it might be things like firmware updates for that device might help. E.g. on the SN770 NVME SSD, a firmware update fixes the freeze then reboots (FTR)

On the FW13/FW16, sometimes reseating the RAM chips helped, but you cannot do that on a FW Desktop because they are soldered on.
