CPU cores, the future?

What are the odds of there being main boards with 8 or more cores in the future?

  • is it realistic in this chassis, heat wise?
  • will the main board form factor even support a different configuration?
  • h/t to @Nich_Trimble, also, is this feasible with the current power configuration?

I would like to be buying a higher core count now than currently exists - if the future is in reality truly bright on this, then… cool.

Well, if framework can make a mainboard with the current-generation AMD mobile CPUs that run in this laptops power envelope, they could get up to 8 cores in it. There’s no confirmed timeline for an AMD board though.
