I am trying to configure a framework desktop. Apologize for the dumb questions.
Do we need a secondary storage for this to work? I assume not but it lists an option of none (bring your own).
Do you suggest SN7100 or SN850x?
Also, the storage option at the end lists Storage (256GB) and (1TB). Do we need to select one of these? Also are we able to get it to boot from these, like if we wanted to use the storage option for gaming but the main primary storage for work?
No, you don’t need a secondary SSD. That is purely optional. Both SSDs are plenty fast for regular users unless you are going to move giant files on a regular basis the SN7100 is more than good enough and it is considerably more power efficient (ie less heat in your case, even if it is just a few Watts difference). The SN850x is a bit faster in certain situations. You do not have to choose any SSD in your order though and can use an SSD you already own or buy one from another vendor, which might be cheaper.
Regarding booting, I would strongly assume it should be possible to do so from both drives.
You can get any NVMe SSD you want from Amazon or something, these are often cheaper. But both models are okay, the 850 is a bit faster.
These are just the expansion cards, I believe. You don’t need any of these, except if you want (even more) additional storage. It probably makes more sense to get USB-C ports on the front instead.
