DEG2 EGPU FW 13 issues

Hello everyone!

(General info)

-Running windows 11, Brand new DEG2 with thunderbolt 5 cable, brand new 850w Pure Power 13 M, and a refurbished 7700xt from Micro center

I’m writing this to ask about some questions about this egpu setup. Currently, I’m using an MINISFORUM DEG2+XFX AMD 7700xt and it won’t populate in my device manager, but it’ll send power to the FW 13. I’ve tried both usb ports, reseating every cable on the egpu setup, using ddu to uninstall amd drivers and reinstalling them, and updating to latest BIOS verison. Still nothing and the gpu has shown no signs of life. If anyone has any info that might help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Pop some basic technical info here please. Do lspci and lsusb and paste each console output into code blocks below (see the </> device in the editor toolbar).

Through the command prompt? Pasted and got nothing back. (Sorry not very technical with this sort of thing lol)

Oh! Sorry, didn’t see you were on Windows.

OK, screenshots of Event Logs might be helpful then - do you get any activity at all when plugging/unplugging the device via USB?

No im not getting any notification from windows, but im receiving power from the egpu

Not notifications: logs. Please thoroughly explore your Event Log viewer, and see if plugging/unplugging causes some log activity. I don’t use Windows, but I recall that Event Log is split into a lot of categories, and you might need to do some hunting around in the UI.

Here’s what I keep getting

OK, good start. Now have a look in your BIOS - maybe take some pictures of TB-related settings with a phone. Paste them here - perhaps some of them need a tweak.

Nothing in my BIOS except for the option to disable all of my IO ports or enable them. Can’t fiddle with them individually in BIOS

Alright, what cable are you using? Is it certified as a TB cable? Do you have any others you can try?

You mention you tried “both” USB ports, but you have four expansion card slots - have you tried them all? I think you need to be using the rear slots, not the front ones.
