DirectX 12 game causing driver to hang, cant find any solutions

for about two months now my Fw16 with 7700S GPU has been having driver hangs anywhere between 4 and 30 minutes into playing some demanding DirectX12 games (primarily fortnite)

what usually happens is the game will go from running perfectly fine to freezing and blackscreening until it crashes to desktop and I get told about a driver timeout by AMD.

Checking the event viewer, right when the crash happens about 50 livekernelevents are detected, the vast majority being code 141, a handful being 1a8 or 1b8, and then 1-2 instances of 117 and a1000001 each. Another 50 or so similar events are reported about 4 minutes after the crash as well, with pretty much the exact same makeup (but without a noticeable system crash)

Checking google for solutions hasnt helped at all, but here’s the list of what I’ve tried:

DDU and reinstalling drivers

DDU and installing old drivers (as far back as early 2025 drivers tested, behavior unchanged)

Disabling MPO

Increasing the windows wait time before killing the driver

Disabling AMD’s overlay

Disabling HAGS

and none of it has worked..

If anyone knows what might be going on or what I can do to further narrow down what might be causing this behavior please let me know, Im open to anything that could possibly shed some more light on the situation.
