Display freezing when you exit a game on your NVIDIA GPU? Update your AMD drivers!

After I set up a Batch 8 of Framework Laptop 16 DIY Edition (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series), everything was working smoothly. Then, something changed (I suspect a Windows update), and after that, few seconds after exiting any game, the deploy froze as the system tried to switch from the dedicated NVIDIA GPU to the integrated graphics on the AMD APU. After wasting nearly the entire day trying to find a change that caused the issue (different NVIDIA drivers, reverting security settings, you name it), I finally tried upgrading the AMD Radeon drivers from the version included in the 2025-11-17 Framework driver bundle v1.01 ( 24.30.74) to the latest AMD driver release at this time (25.12.1) everything worked flawlessly.

So go to AMDs website and grab the latest drivers, which is something basic I should have tried early on.

To the Framework team: Please update your driver bundle ASAP.

Framework released some newer validated drivers (well, beta release) last week - 25.10.2 (found here: Framework Laptop 16 AMD Ryzen™ AI300 Series Driver Bundle v1.02 2025_12_16 Release BETA ). Your results may vary with drivers downloaded directly from the AMD site.
