[SOLVED] Laptop 16 not working anymore

Hello,
I got my laptop about 2 weeks ago, I did a AMD software update, the first problem was when I launched a game the computer didn’t switch to to the expension graphic card (worked fine before the update, just had 3 seconds freeze each time the computer switch to the graphic card, that’s why I tried to update), I tried to install the previous version of AMD and started by uninstalling the current version I had, the screen became black and now my computer doesn’t start anymore… I get the logo and after there’s only a black screen, the fans are turning crazy but nothing else happen…

I tried almost everything on the menu when we press F2 but nothing is working. I don’t know much about informatics, if someone can save me?

Most probably you have an issue with the video driver. Try this:

  • On a working computer download the display driver uninstaller tool from here. I normally go for a portable version. Save it to a flash drive.
  • Download Framework 16 driver bundle here and save it to flash drive.

You then should enter Windows Safe Mode. In Windows 11 it’s a bit tricky as it doesn’t have any hotkey to do it during boot. Instead, you need to try booting into it multiple times, each time after you see a black screen after logo, just hold the power button until the laptop shuts down. (Described in more detail at the start of this article.)

  • Once you’re in Windows Safe Mode, log in, plug in the flash drive with files you downloaded above.
  • Copy the files to the laptop’s disk. Otherwise stuff can be pretty slow/buggy. Downloads folder will work fine.
  • First, run the DDU program. Make a photo of its window with your phone - might come in handy if stuff is not fixed. Then press the “Clean and restart” button on the top left of the window. Wait for the program to do its job and restart your computer.

Hopefully, after restart your computer will start normally. Then install the Framework 16 driver pack that you’ve copied to it earlier, as soon after boot as possible so that Windows doesn’t try to download a different driver.

If the computer doesn’t start normally - attempt the same steps again just in case DDU needs another go at the system for some reason. If this doesn’t help, enter Safe Mode again and instead of DDU try installing Framework 16 driver bundle directly.

Hello, thanks for your answer.
Safe mode didn’t work, the support helped me, we tried few things and they told me to remove one of the RAM and it worked, I still don’t know how it worked  I was able to reinstall the framework drivers pack and everything is fine now
