Just got my Framework shipped and followed instructions to build & install Windows. Also updated drivers/BIOS using these instructions - Framework Laptop 16 BIOS and Driver Releases (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series)
Everything seems to work, but when I use the dGPU (5070) and quit games, the screen freezes (sound seems to still work). It seems when moving to the iGPU, something breaks and I have to force restart the laptop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated here!
Can confirm this issue, I came to the forums to find or start a topic about this exact issue. When I close certain gaming programs, the screen works for about 5 seconds as the GPU powers down, and then suddenly the entire screen locks up and I am unable to do anything without forcing a hard reset using the power button.
I can say that it’s not ALL games that cause the problem. I have a list of a few games that are guaranteed to cause this crash every time I close the program:
-Warframe
-Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
-World of Warcraft
As far as I am able to tell, they don’t really have anything in common, but hopefully listing out a few of the games that cause the issue will allow a quicker understanding of what’s causing the problem.
I am facing the exact same problem… I got my Laptop 4 Days ago… Closing Games like RDR2 will cause the laptop to freeze after few seconds and I need to do a hard restart… Any Ideas about that?
You could try turning off the advanced optimus in bios to see if it’s a result of the driver for that.
I can confirm that this worked! So we’ve isolated the issue at least, and everything functions normally with the GPU being dedicated to processing.
I tried the beta drivers from Framework which did not help.
What worked for me was downloading the latest AMD Drivers.
