Display port output cycling on and off

I have the 395 desktop with 64gb RAM. I am using it with 3 monitors, two via display ports and one via HDMI. HDMI runs fine. Inner display port runs fine. Outer display port output cycles on and off about every 5 - 10 seconds. Using new 8k display port cables and switching them makes no difference. Switching which monitor it is attached to makes no difference as the behavior follows the cable attached to the outer display port output. This happened when system was setup initially and went away after a reboot. System ran fine for several weeks and now on a reboot the behavior has returned. Tried submitting a support ticket twice but system keeps saying submittal unsuccessful. Any suggestions welcomed.

What is your os?

Regardless, try running without a monitor attached to hdmi.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. The problem persists even if only one monitor is attached. I am running Windows 11. Thanks again.

I cannot help with windows. But you have to try and find some diagnostic logs and see what is going on.

from sysinternals you have the wevutil utility. So something like that could work:

wevutil qe system /f:Text /rd | more

With respect to the monitors, my point was not to use hdmi, use only dp1, use only dp2, and use only hdmi. Do you still experience the blanking?

On linux, and you can see other people with the framework laptop on windows and linux, usually experience it on hdmi to an external monitor.

I experienced it, intermittent loss of output to black, and switching to dp output “fixed” it. Hdmi is what can i say… a can of worms.

Ultimately it seems it is the driver which is resetting, at least on linux. But what drives it to this state, i dont know.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I have tried all the monitor combinations I can think of to narrow it down including what you suggested. I was not clear on that in my post and I apologize for that. You suggestion about the logs is a good one and I will follow up on that. In the meantime, I am going to try a USB C to DP adapter as my monitors don’t accept USB C directly. Thanks for your patience. dp

I have the same exact hardware as you but I’m running Linux Mint. I have one monitor on the HDMI and no other monitors. I’m visiting my son and staying in an in law type small house. I noticed that when the oven switches on, my monitor goes blank for a second. It’s a long shot but try plugging that dude into a different power source.

Roger, wilco. Thanks.

Was able to submit a support request via email. Received a prompt same day reply with helpful suggestions. After going back and forth with FW support over two days, problem is solved….at least temporarily. Tried several things but what ultimately corrected it was a mainboard reset done according to the FW guide support provided. Thanks to those who took the time to contribute your suggestions. Your time was much appreciated.
