Hello !
I am using the framework 13 2.8K display with ubuntu 24. I’m very happy with it, except when I plug in an external monitor (to be used as a dual monitor setup).
If I leave things as when plugged in, I get a 200% scale on my external monitor, which is just not usable.
With my previous laptop (which had even higher resolution), I would just downgrade the resolution on the built-in screen to match the one of the external monitor, and reduce scale to 100%.
In the case of the framework 13 2.8K display, there is only the maximum resolution that is available at 3:2 ratio (why is half not available btw ?). If I use any other resolution, application windows don’t line up with the screens and it’s just a mess, especially when I’m using a window manager (pop_shell). So, the resolution downgrade approach does not seem to work.
So far the best option I’ve found is using fractional display (200% on the built-in display, 100% on the external), which is usable, but not ideal for several reasons. The biggest issue for me is that everytime I plug/unplugg an external monitor I have to go through the whole setup again (both ways), which was not the case with my previous laptop.
This issue is related to [RESPONDED] Ubuntu 22.04.3 - Scaling issues with dual monitor setup - #5 by S.H
If anyone has hints about this, I’d be happy to try a few things !
Thanks
