DIY AMD - 3rd-party RAM "bargain"

I’m waiting on delivery of my DIY AMD Framework, but wanted to share (for UK folk thinking of buying) a potential nice deal on good quality RAM.

Crucial RAM appears to be nicely low latency (CL46 versus Corsair’s CL48), but it’s expensive to buy direct from Crucial and from many resellers. MemoryCow is selling 2x32GB 5600MT/s SODIMM for £209.72 delivered. That’s a few pennies cheaper than the equivalent Corsair kit from Scan (where I would usually shop).

The kit I got = 2 x CT2K32G56C46S5

You can get cl40 kingstons, the corsairs may not even be jdec, there are only the 40, 46 and 50 jdec bins for 5600.

Good spot! When my laptop arrives I’ll test to see if I get the advertised speed and latency from the Crucial kit, but I may pick up the G.Skill kit as well to do a comparison.

I’m not planning on doing much gaming on the new laptop (I have a PC for that), but I am interested in the gaming performance of the AMD APU, so at least initially I’m going to load up Steam and GOG to test out some AAA titles. I think if the G.Skill kit was going to be a differentiator, it would show up in something like Cyberpunk, Baldur’s Gate 3 and even possibly Minecraft.

The crucial one is all most certainly cl46 jdec so should be fine. Dount the difference between 46 and 40 is all that noticable, I just got the kingston cl40s cause lowest number and were cheap XD.

It is quite impressive what you can run on that thing. Though afaik the igpu cares a lot more about bandwidth than latency.
