Do new laptop 16 models have a different speaker configuration?

I just installed an AMD AI 300 series mainboard in my laptop that’s otherwise older than that.

I notice that the speakers sound significantly different.
Is this because the firmware on the AI 300 series mainboards is trying to target a different speaker configuration?

The original mainboards had a Linux Audio Compatibility toggle in the UEFI for switching between Windows and Linux compatibility. This was shipped set for Windows. Framework advised adjusting the setting for the best performance in Linux.

Have you checked your AI 300 mainboard:

  1. Has that same UEFI setting?
  2. Toggled it for Linux compatibility, if it wasn’t already set?

Yep, both the old and the new mainboard were (are) set to Linux audio compatibility.
