I’ve gotten a Lenova Thinkpad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A dock. And I got it to work except for charging. The most likely reason is that only USB ports 5-6 seem to allow the dock to connect, but those ports don’t have charging capabilities. In ports 1-4 I constantly get the follow errors when checking through dmsg:

So the issue seem to be that something is different for ports 1-4 to such a level that the dock isn’t recognized at all. I just can’t figure out what and how to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

I checked with coworkers that have Framework 13s and they don’t have this issue at all.

Correction ports 1-2 and 4-5 aren’t working. 3 and 6 everything except charging works. Every other non framework and the framework 13 laptop work as intended. So there is something different about just those 4 usb ports.

I have a similar dock that works fine. I usually plug it to port 4. Are you using USB-C or A to connect it?

Have you tried using a different cable? Maybe signal integrity is not good enough.

It is possible to update the dock through Lenovo Vantage. Have you tried that?

I am on Ubuntu. So vantage is not an option. USB-A would not charge the PC as that doesn’t have that ability. And we just bought a ton of these docks, they do charge on all the other Linux machines but not on the Framework 16s.

Is there no other Windows PC available to run the update?
