Just curious as I have the 2nd gen keyboard, cooler and fingerprint reader in my basket but if it’s not necessary I’ll save some money.
Nope. Ordered my DIY one in August and it came with the first gen. I just requested to return the keyboard cover that came with it and purchased the 2nd gen.
What are the advantages to the 2nd gen over the 1st?
I believe better compatibility with Linux and more uniform lighting around the button. I mainly got the 2nd gen input cover because I wanted to have the uniform lighting and the framework logo instead of the windows key because I’m dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora.
I’ve found the 2nd gen fingerprint sensor to be a whole world better than the first gen.
I’m realizing the kit is basically the new keyboard and fingerprint reader with a trackpad. It’s a just a full kit of individual parts I can save 30 bucks by getting the most important things I wanted but I was hoping they’d include it because it makes it 20 dollars less after tax than a 340
