I just wanted to know if the Gen 2 keyboard coming with the newer will be compatible with the older framework laptops. When I looked at the newer framework 13 it says gen 2 keyboard.

Should be fully compatible.
The 2nd Gen keyboard features new artwork and an improved structure to reduce key noise when cranking up the speaker volume.
These changes are for things that should not at all require breaking compatibility. Framework would not break compatibility unless absolute necessary. The improved structure is just the tiny parts inside individual keys iirc.
