DP++ support?

Does the Framework Desktop support DP++, i.e., can I use a passive DP to HDMI cable to connect a monitor with HDMI input using one of the Desktop‘s DP video outputs?

The table (on the Wikipedia page) is still there, you have to scroll down a bit.

So, unfortunately no, plugging a passive DP → HDMI cable into the DP adapter expansion card doesn’t work. The USB DP alt mode port just can’t send out the correct signals for HDMI (for DP++), it’s just not something the standard is capable of.

Thanks @Jacob_Padgett. My question, however, was about the two DisplayPort rear ports, not the USB-C ports.

OH - I didn’t even notice we were talking about the desktop, woops!!

Given the published specs of the APU, it could go either way. It’s common functionality, but it does require explicit GPU, motherboard and firmware support. Unfortunately, Framework’s specs tend to lack detail, so I’m not comfortable drawing any conclusions based on those specs, either.

It might be worth asking Framework Support. Users will speculate, but there’s too many factors to be sure. Batch 1 hasn’t shipped yet, so not many people are able to confirm.

Thanks again @Jacob_Padgett. I issued a support request.
