The other day I figured I’ve had it with the way the 16’s speakers sound, so I gathered their impulse response (inevitably combined with the IR of the microphones) and calculated the inverse which in turn can be used in the EasyEffects’ Convolver plugin:
It’s a very crude approximation, mono and most likely an exact fit only for my speakers, but looking at its spectrum it should at the very least cut out those plastic-cup-sounding mids.
I’ve added 4dB of bass boost because the built-in microphone doesn’t pick up bass too well and the speakers can handle it with maybe just a little bit of low frequency distortion - you’re going to hear it if listen to music featuring 5-string bass or other such instruments.
Tested on some FLACs and WAVs with heavy metal and a few other genres.
