Error for USBC

Which Linux distro are you using?

Arch Linux

Which release version?
(if rolling release without a release version, skip this question)

(If rolling release, last date updated?)

Today

Which kernel are you using?

6.18.7-arch1-1

Which BIOS version are you using?

3.04

Which Framework Laptop 16 model are you using? (AMD AI 300 Series)

Though I am completely updated I continue to get this error and I don’t know how to fix ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: unknown error! With it saying right after source-capabilities: Unknown APDO type. PDO 0xe404b1f4

I don’t recognise the error, but APDO suggests USB-C Power Delivery. How trustworthy is your USB-C cable and how many watts can your power brick supply?

It’s frameworks 240w power supply!

You just say this is an error, not that it’s failing to charge or performance is cut because it’s not delivering enoough power.

What’s wrong apart from Linux power management saying it doesn’t recognise this Power Delivery Object?

Yeah that I think that is all can find in the journal!

do you need anything from me for me to get help?

I’m a volunteer and I have nothing more to add here.

Hello,

Could you please reach out to support so we can isolate this better?

Okay thank you!

Just adding my findings, likely similar issue on debian, the PDO profile index in your case is E (in my case was 9) but the kernel does not count more than 4 or the FW does not report more thand 4, if my understanding is right.

thank you!!

So has your problem been fixed now ??

I suggest that you install “framework tool”. It has access to your hardware and was developed by framework for trouble shooting. This will tell you if things are fine on the hardware side and is an issue with your operating system.

BTW..that’s also a fairly old Kernel. My Fedora KDE is on 6.19.14. Despite that, it should still work okay…I think.

No and yes I have used the Framework tool. I even talked with Framework Support because more issues have been popping up especially after I updated my bios… They said that they put me up the list after I sent the tool and then they never emailed me back it’s been like a month :<

And I am on arch on 7.0.2 now!

While Framework Support is dragging their a$$ maybe try a live Fedora Workstation ISO and see if it shows the same issue. Assuming you can get any of your USB ports to work.

I am running the installed version on my FW16 Ai9 with zero issues.

I looked at my Journal. It seems like it’s just the bios having errors, not enough for it to hurt my PC it still usable so I think I’ll just wait! Thank you though for your support!
