[EU] Custom 3D Printed FW16 single piece input cover 15€ each

Im offering to 3D print custom single piece input covers for the FW16, im using the official models from the Framework github and you can choose between various different materials, colors and surface finishes.

And of course you can choose if you want the touchpad on the left, right or center as well as being able to have text or logos printed into the surface but that could cost a little more depending on how complex your idea is.

Region/Country: EU wide
Price (and accepted payment methods) : 15€
Shipment option/shipment price: ill be shipping with DHL and due to the large size of the part it must be shipped as a medium sized box even though it fits into a very large envelope so shipping would start at ~7€ due to the size and would be a bit more expensive depending on where you are at.
I can fit multiple of these into one shipment for the same price though.

Wow, that looks amazing!!! May i ask what printer you are using to make these works of art?

im printing these on the Prusa XL.
Its one of the few consumer grade printers large enough for this part.

Amazing service!

Could you list the options/materials/finishes/colors you have available? Thinking about it…

i can do all PLA materials in a smooth finish and everything else either with a satin finish or a textured one.
Here are some pictures of my filament collection, i also have a new role of silver PLA and PETG coming in on friday

Just tested a new material and color, this is Polycarbonat so its very hard and stiff compared to many other plastics, its the same stuff Framework uses for their bezels.

Note i can only print this with a satin finish and i only have this one color, also the material is so expensive that i need to charge 20€ a piece for these.

Awesome work! Is your printer big enough to print FW16’s screen bezel as well?

I really dig this look, let me know if we can arrange a single shipment for trackpad+bezel

yes my printer is large enough for this as well, the largest i can fit is 36x36x36cm

i will have to check how long the bezel takes to print and also note that the prints you see in the other post are extremel clear which is hard to archive with FDM printing, you can see pictures further up in this post where i have printed a clear input cover with regular speeds.
Getting a more clear result requires the print speed to be slowed WAY down which greatly increases how long it takes to print one part and therefore would also increase cost.

When im back home ill check hpw long the bezel would take and give you an estimate what it could cost.

Could you hit me up with some quotes via DMs? I’m really looking forward to get a onepiece touchpad spacer!

To set expectations. The bezel is loose on the bottom and you have to super glue some 1mm magnets on to make it secure. That bezel stl doesnt cover where the lid connects to the base.

yea and i also looked at the model and theres a part thats supposed to cover the bottom but its almost impossible to print without supports.

I dont have a FW16 here so i cant really redesign it to make it better but if anyone has a model he wants printed i can fit all of this on the printer without any problems.

i just did a testprint on the bezel and the model is not that great honestly, there are tiny little details on the model that can barely be printed and will break off if you look at them the wrong way and i dont know what they are needed for.

i can absolutely print you a touchpad spacer in any color and orientation you want though, just send me a message with details of what you are looking for.

Another new color a customer has ordered.
If any of the people who ordered some could post some photos of these on the laptop that would also be great.

Yeah, sorry guys I’ve been trying to get it perfect but its definitely work in progress. I tried/am trying to find a way to make the bottom piece print more consistently but I don’t see a way to print it w/o supports.

As for the small pieces that break off if you look at it wrong, I’m not exactly sure what your talking about. The things that come to mind are the pins/ extrusions that fit into the bezel to align it, and the dots that help position the magnets. If you’re talking about the latter, its fine if they don’t come through, their just there to make life easier when/if you install the magnets.

But if you have any comments/recommendations feel free to tell me and I would love to give it a shot. I’m using a Prusa XL and though it barely works as of current, that’s mostly related to that lower part not the actual main bezel piece. If anyone really wants one as of now id also be willing to print one out and ship/sell it to you. I’m also working on getting the sliders to work but that will take a little bit longer lmao.

I’m glad you chimed in so i can say I appreciate the efforts Mat! it def worked for what i wanted and using it still.

Really appreciate it! And if you ever go to print a new bezel, the new versions without slider work pretty well.

This is nice, how can i order one?
