The touchpad is still grounded through the pogo pins and the remaining touchpad was never grounded on the original anyways.
Also this is the first time im hearing of that issue.

well i guess with Frameworks announcement last week the demand for the 3d printed version will die down a lot except when people want it a lot cheaper than from Framework or a different color/layout.
Ill keep this post open and continue to accept orders for now, also if you need 100 shipping boxes you can buy them from me as well 
From what I’ve seen their module is only for centered touchpads
So for people like me who like it centered on the keyboard there is still a market
And if ever manage to break mine, I’ll definitively order a new one

What is the difference between a smooth and a satin finish? Is it like the matte and glare options on displays? So one is like glass mirror and the other one like a matte paintwork on a mafia car?
yea the smooth one can be a little glossy depending on the filament and will also easily show any imperfection, fingerprint or scratch so i dont really recommend it for most people.
the satin finish is a little closer to the original texture you have on the parts from framework, still flat but has some texture to it.
And then theres also the textured finish which is a lot more textured but also looks very cool and hides most fingerprints and scratches you may get onto the part over time.
Sounds like I’m in the market for the satin finish, black, offset to the left (aligning with the keyboard), 3 pieces.

Polycarbonate filament sounds awesome for strength, and I don’t mind paying more (or for a new spool) if that means it’ll be more durable. Preferably a silver color close to stock, because I’m mostly in it because my skin keeps getting caught on the palmrest spacers, not so much for looks. Or maybe gray. But I’m also a sucker for green highlights if you still have that green PC color available. Left aligned, shipping to Netherlands.

So, Thomas recommended against using PC filament because of shrinkage/dimensional accuracy problems, so in the end I got either PLA or PETG (I don’t actually know). New color though, so here’s some pictures!
This is printed on a textured build plate. IMO that hides the print lines much better than satin/smooth. You can see it if you know to look for it, but it doesn’t stand out:
However, I was hesitating about this because I wasn’t sure how much rougher it’d be to the touch, and also got a silver/satin cover for comparison. In case anyone else is planning to get one and isn’t sure: textured is indeed much rougher to the touch than satin. The feel of textured is not unlike that of the outdoor wooden table in the picture, while satin is much closer to the stock aluminum finish. I think I can get used to it just fine, but it’s probably not for everyone.

Just to give a small update on the textured finish: after a few days of working on it I think I actually prefer it over the texture of the stock aluminum (I haven’t tried the satin cover yet). The plastic isn’t hard enough for the texture to chafe, and I kinda like the added friction.
Also, something I hadn’t even thought of yet: when the laptop and battery get hot while charging, a plastic cover is far more comfortable than an aluminum one due to lower thermal conductivity; the surface feels much cooler. Dunno how much the decreased heat dissipation would impact battery thermals and lifespan, but in terms of typing comfort these plastic covers are worth every euro.
