Expansion Card Issue Persists

I was using my mouse when suddenly it stopped working so I wanted to test the expansion card and plugged in my phone which made the phone go from charging and not charging to charging and not charging maybe every 3 seconds so I decided to shut it off and let it cool down as it was a bit warm per usual with laptops.

Once it cooled down I plugged the charger back in and plugged my mouse in and only the laptop would charge and the mouse would not work. So I went to plug my phone in and this time all the power went to my phone and not the laptop I had originally plugged in so my laptop was getting no charge at all even though I had plugged that in first and previously it was able to charge itself, my nic, and have a micro sd inserted all while using my mouse. I was able to do this after I had redownloaded the BIOS to just refresh it. Now when I redownload the BIOS the issue persists still i’m not sure why the first time it worked and why the 2nd time it worked, albeit very briefly it did work properly for some 2-3 days each of the first 2 times I had a fresh install on the BIOS 3.03 for Windows.

This 3rd time I had redownloaded the BIOS it made no difference at all. Though it is not to the point where only one expansion slot worked though it is getting there and it seems to favor the expansion slot closest to oneself whilst using the laptop in a typical way on the left side.

While it can send power in and send power out–one at a time–it cannot run more advanced features such as sd expansion cards or a plug in mouse. It can charge itself and charge a phone or nic just only one at a time currently.

I am going to leave it charging–even though it is currently at full-- for a good 2 hours and just read a book on my tablet (shoutout annasarchive definetly check them out) then after the 2 hours is up refresh the BIOS for the 4th time. I really do like this laptop lots I am hoping someone here knows of a more permanent solution. Or knows exactly where the issue arises.

Same problem on my side!

It’s the first time it’s happened to me and it’s been two days. I’m on Fedora 43 and it happened shortly after an update so I quickly thought it must be a driver and a linux thing, but I’ve been surprised, so far, not to have found anyone else sharing my problem online.

When I plug in my mouse, the rgb lights up for a second and then goes out. When I plug in an external hardrive, the little light comes on the device, but it’s not detected on the system.

My bluetooth also stopped working at about the same time. Now it says: plug in the key to use bluetooth.

It sounds like you are having problems related to USB.
These sorts of problems are normally specific to particular USB devices.
So, it might help if you included the make/model of everything you have plugged into the laptop, mouse, charger, phone.
Different USB ports have different capabilities, so it would also help knowing which usb ports you are plugging them into.

if it helps, I only experienced this issue with my (front right) USB A expansion card after charging on the (back right) USB C port for the first time (unsure if this info is relevant). Unplugging and plugging the USB A expansion card back in seemed to restore full functionality for the time being.

the laptop also died while asleep before I experienced this issue, so that’s a lot of extra variables thrown into the mix, and I’m not sure which ones impacted the issue. haven’t attempted to reproduce it yet but might try to later.
