In the following I will use firmware, Bios, EFI interchangably meaning the firmware on the mainboard.
For future Framework 16 mainboard iterations I request following feature:
Provide a second EFI slot or some backup mechanism to reflush the EFI to a working state without needing a working EFI.
Advantages:
- Avoid bricking your mainboard on failed Bios Updates
- Allow tinkering with firmware without risk
- Facilitate porting of open source firmware like Coreboot. For my understanding some volunteers failed to due bricking their mainboards when coding a port
