Fedora 41/13th Gen Intel Core microphone not working

I’m running Fedora 41 on a Framework Laptop 13 with the 13th Gen Intel Core i7, and I’ve been having problems with my microphone for about a year now (this issue has persisted from Fedora 39).

The microphone shows up as a device, but does not seem to pick up any audio. I checked to make sure that the optical switches aren’t covered, and I assumed that my microphone was just broken, so I finally replaced the webcam module (with the 2nd gen version). I just installed the new webcam module, and the new webcam works fine, but the microphone still doesn’t work. I’ve tried clapping and touching right where the microphone is, and it does not pick up any audio there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update - I figured it out. My gain was set way too high, and correcting the gain fixed the microphone. Not sure how it got so high, but to fix it, I installed pavucontrol, then ran it and navigated to “Input Devices,” and adjusted the microphone gain there.
