Hey! Just got everything up and running today on my 12, and I was really having a ball until I realized… just how poor the color is on this thing!
I’m a digital artist, and did some comparisons between my 300 dollar whatever phone and the 12, and the phone pulled through by leaps and bounds! Reds appear tomato at their most vibrant on the 12, which is really really not good! Especially for artists!
All I’m left wondering is: Does the team have any plans on making a better display for the 12- the thing that was marketed to creative types- or will I need to just learn to suck it up and do color correction on an entirely different device forever? ![]()
We don’t know, Framework doesn’t really share what they will do…
I like the screen : it’s bright and with a nice contrast. But yeah, orange is the new red ! ![]()
It’s okay for my usage (even photographs). I mean, I have eight monitors at home: none of them produce the same display.
We don’t know when or even if any upgrades will come. But Framework does provide 30 days for a return, I believe. I’d say, judge the device you have in your hands now for usability to you. I wouldn’t let the hope of upgrade factor into it.
Red is pretty much the only color I see extremely well and I know this will bother me quite a bit. This is why I am holding back until the fw12 gets a better screen. I can compromise on pretty much everything else.
The display uses 50% of the Adobe RGB color gamut. I really want one but I’m holding off specifically because of this, I can’t play guessing games with color accuracy for my work.
