I’m just wondering if there will be a more color accurate, touch accurate and optionally paper textured screen for fw12 for digital art? if we had that I’d be saving towards fw12 instead of another tablet
While they haven’t announced anything officially yet, I’m sure they will be offering some form of upgrades for the 12 (including the screen) later down the line. They didn’t release the 13 with the greatest screen, but later iterations offered significantly more improved displays/resolution.
The best perk of owning a Framework laptop - you wouldn’t have to spend money on an all new unit when they do release it, they’ll individually sell the parts to upgrade!![]()
While this is certainly true. I’d suggest one only buys a Framework if it fit their needs as it is. I would not buy one in hopes that it will receive a particular upgrade soon.
For some people the lack of a backlit keyboard might be huge from them. But they read that Framework did include pins on the Framework 12 mainboard to support a keyboard backlight. Great! Probably coming soon, right? Well, the first ever Framework, the Framework 13 from 2021, included the pins to support a touchscreen on it’s mainboard. Yet there still is no touchscreen for the 13. Framework keeping options open for upgrades doesn’t mean it will happen.
There is no touchscreen for the 13, Yet* ![]()
Fair enough though. I’m an absolute fanboy of Framework products, but.. difficult to justify spending $900+ just for digital art, when you can get an iPad Air with a significantly better screen/accurate pencil for the same price. Apple really did make it difficult for smaller companies to compete for those price points(for digital art), hooray for consumer I guess.
