I recently got the stylus. My laptop is running Linux, Fedora with a Wayland compositor (niri). I was surprised to find that the upper stylus button presses middle click instead of right click, even though all the documentation I can find says it should press the right click button. This makes using some drawing apps annoying, because for example Krita by default opens the popup menu with right click and pans with middle click. I would like to keep it this way when using the mouse, while still being able to open the popup menu with the stylus as well.
I don’t think I can remap the button either without affecting my actual mouse and trackpad as well, but there might be a way to do this? Still, I find it weird that the button configuration out of the box is different than advertised. Anyone else run into this problem?
I meant in generic applications, not in drawing apps with specific stylus support. Inside specific apps, you’ll need to look in the settings for that app.
I think on my Framework 12, one button is right click and one is middle click, and you just left click by pointing at a specific spot.
In generic applications the lower button does not do anything at all and is not registered when trying to assign shortcut keys in Blender for example. The upper button is registered as middle mouse button in generic applications as well.
According to this post, the lower button puts the stylus in eraser mode (as if you were using the rubber side of a pencil) and the upper button is interpreted however the compositor and application chooses.
If neither your compositor nor your application allow you to remap stylus buttons how you wish, you’ll have to use a program like the one you mentioned.
