I’ve got a framework 13 with a ryzen 7840U running Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon that I would like to use together with a 6650xt graphics card installed on a Mantiz pro Saturn V eGPU enclosure. When plugging in the egpu after startup, everything works, meaning the external monitor, mouse and keyboard, but the renderer is still the onboard graphics unit. I’ve read that linux doesn’t really have hot plug support for eGPUs and that you need to reboot your system with the eGPU plugged in from the start. When doing that however, I get a black screen shortly after the framework and Mint logos flash on the laptop display. Removing “quiet splash” from grub, I get the following text copied 4 times at startup and then everything freezes.
Starting Detect all available GPUs and deal with any system changes…
Finished Detect all available GPUs and deal with any system changes…
Starting Light Display Manager.
Started Light Display Manager.
Started Process Core Dump (PID [4 digit number]/UID 0).
I’m feeling a bit lost and would appreciate any ideas on how to proceed.
