I just installed Ubuntu 25.10 on my new 13. That worked like a charm, but for some reason the fingerprint reader isn’t detected properly. I ran through all of the debugging guides, but it’s not even showing up in fwupdmgr as a device:
➜ ~ sudo fwupdmgr update
Devices with the latest available firmware version:
• System Firmware
• UEFI CA
• UEFI dbx
Devices with no available firmware updates:
• frame.work-LaptopDB
• frame.work-LaptopKEK
• KEK CA
• Laptop Webcam Module (2nd Gen)
• SBAT
• WD BLACK SN7100 1TB
• Windows UEFI CA
The power button works (as a power button). The white border light is on too.
Is that a hardware failure, or an Ubuntu-specific issue?
Details:
- Ubuntu 25.10
- Kernel 6.17.0-5-generic
- Framework 13 AMD Ryzen AI 300 series, model AI 7 350
- BIOS 3.04 (latest, came pre-installed)
A couple months ago I started with 25.04 and then upgraded to 25.10. Fingerprint reader works.
Same AMD 350, kernel, BIOS as you.
But it doesn’t always wake up from standby. Needs a reboot when that happens - just restarting the service doesn’t fix that.
This is my fwupdmgr update after the fprint reader didn’t wake up from sleep:

And here after a reboot:

If you can’t find it after a cold start, contact Framework.
I guess I’ll do that, as it has never shown on any boot, cold or restart.
