[RESOLVED] Fingerprint Sensor not working on Ubuntu 22.04

Hi,

I just got my AMD Framework 13. Everything seems to work just fine, except for the fingerprint sensor which doesn’t seem to be detected?

When trying to add a fingerprint to a user, the UI shows the following error:

Trying to manually enroll it, I get the following error:

florian@Sterling:~$ sudo fprintd-enroll
[sudo] password for florian:
Using device /net/reactivated/Fprint/Device/0
failed to claim device: GDBus.Error:net.reactivated.Fprint.Error.Internal: Open failed with error: Please update firmware using fwupd

Checking fwupdmgr, it doesn’t seem to list the fingerprint sensor:

florian@Sterling:~$ fwupdmgr update
Devices with no available firmware updates:
 • SHPP41-2000GM
 • UEFI dbx
Devices with the latest available firmware version:
 • System Firmware

This is a fresh install of Ubuntu 22.04 with the oem kernel installed as per the getting started guide.

Linux Sterling 6.1.0-1026-oem #26-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Nov 1 14:06:23 UTC 2023 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Does anyone have any idea what to do here? Am I missing something, or is this a hardware issue?

Thanks,

Florian

Ok, so I seem to have been able to get it to work by disabling Secure Boot and following the steps here: Updating Fingerprint Reader Firmware on Linux for 13th Gen and AMD Ryzen 7040 Series Laptops
