Framework 13 shutting down on impact

  • Dualboot Windows 11 26H2, Fedora 43
  • Framework Laptop 13 AMD 7040 Series
  • 32G DDR5 Ram
  • 512GB SSD

My framework is shutting down when hitting the desk or setting it down on the table. It doesn’t have to be very hard. Just happens when an friend set his backpack down on the desk or I pick it up.

The machine is from 2023 and came with the intel 11th gen motherboard. I replaced motherboard and keyboard in 2025.

Thanks in advance.

I’d recommend at least making sure that the RAM and SSD are properly seated, all the way down in their sockets, screwed down as appropriate.

Check if the screw on the bottom closest to the power button is too tight. I’ve had a similar issue.

Actually shutting down as if you clicked on shutdown with the mouse (which usually takes a few seconds), or just going instantly to being off with a blank screen?

Either way it sounds like something is loose and either shorts or disconnects when there is a small physical impact.
