Framework 16 (7840hs & 7700s), system lock up with screen burn in on reboot

Hi there I’m having a really weird issue, my laptop locked up so I force powered it off and when I powered it back on and the state when it froze has been stuck displayed in the background on grub and in the bios after many restarts (it has faded away overtime), but I’m now noticing the display flickering when vrr is enabled and I have ran a game on both the iGPU and the dGPU which both displayed properly, but the iGPU was flickering slightly, I have plugged in an external monitor into the iGPU and it doesn’t seem to flicker with vrr enabled. Could this be a faulty display or am I missing something obvious.

Thank you for reading.

Hi, I’m not sure, but based on the tests you’ve done, I’d rule out a motherboard or GPU issue, so it could be the screen. I recommend checking that the monitor cable is connected properly. In any case, the best solution would be to contact support if you haven’t already done so.

Hi there thanks for the reply, I will check the display cable to see if there’s anything obviously wrong, but yeah as you suggested I will be contacting support because I have never seen anything like this before it really stumped me when it happened.

I have checked the display cables and everything looks okay by my eyes, I’ll still try re-seating it though.

Update: The flickering issue seems to have gone after reseating the display cables, although when it did happen it did seem to get less noticeable over time so I don’t know if it fixed itself or my actions fixed it so I’m still very uncertain about what happened (or caused it to begin with), I have submitted a support request.
