Framework 16 DVD drive bottom case

Plugging in your own DVD drive works, but it doesn’t have the same feel as having one simply built-in. Has anyone modified the bottom case to include a DVD drive? I have, and I would share it, but it’s untested and won’t be tested for a long time, plus Framework won’t let me upload because my account is too new.

People tend to use services like github to share open source or copyleft creations.

I look forward to seeing some pictures of this.

I wanna see it so I updated your trust level. Show us the drive (please)

Yessss, please show this! I believe this is the first physical disk drive mod for a Framework Laptop.

@Kane_Evans don’t leave us hanging :sweat_smile:

Personally I just lug around a USB enclosure with a desktop sized drive these days, but having experienced an ancient DVD playing Dell laptop that is objectively better than all modern laptops in many respects, I’m seriously invested in any and all DVD player mods for FW16…

Mark me as interested also.
Perhaps could put a USB C hub in there for more modules. Could have one of each with the 6 (or 5 if used for the uplink) on the laptop then 3 more on each side and the DVD in the front: if placed smartly; the high speed (USB4) stuff on the laptop and low speed stuff (SD, Audio etc.) on the bottom.
