Framework 16 Wifi-Card woes?

So it has been around a month since I got my FW16 Ryzen 9 AI, So far everything has been going smoothly except the Wi-Fi Card (being a mediatek) being inconsistent (one test reports 40 up 10 down, other times its not even a tenth of a MB per second up and down)

So should I bite the bullet and swap out the mediatek card for an Intel Wi-Fi Card now for consistency sake? or should I try any other software issues to see if its the reason.

edit: for some reason it wouldn’t let me post the appropriate tags, I do have a Ryzen 9 so ignore the amd 7040 tag

Edit 2: I am using Windows 11 as well so idk if its the OS (as the forums I’ve been seeing have a lot of people getting issues while using linux

I had a lot of instability with the default AMD wifi card too. I just swapped it for an Intel one, the one detailed here and I’ve not had a wifi card problem since.

Maybe that won’t solve your particular issue, but the Intel card is very cost effective, and Framework give clear instructions for replacing it, it takes only a few minutes, so may be worth trying. I followed Framework’s guide here.

The Bluetooth connection works fine too.

got it.

One quick question, did you get the vPro or the Non-vPro? and do they both work with the AMD Boards?

I did the same and got the Intel AX210 non-vPro card. It made a big difference in my wifi working better overall and no more Bluetooth dropouts.

The vPro only works with Intel chips.

No clue, sorry. “vPro” wasn’t something that I noticed as a choice.

I brought this specific card from Amazon.

It identifies as:

# lspci -k | grep -A1 Intel
c0:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6E(802.11ax) AX210/AX1675* 2x2 [Typhoon Peak] (rev 1a)
	Subsystem: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6 AX210 160MHz
	Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi

A quick random test on speedtest.net shows speeds that are more than enough for my use over wifi:
