Framework desktop only recognizes usb c touchscreen monitor sometimes

The framework desktop frequently won’t recognize my usb c touchscreen monitor. The monitor will be powered on and say “no signal.” I tried changing settings in windows 11 pro and in the bios to make it load slower and it seemed to help some. If I unplug the computer and plug it back it helped sometimes but not always. I also purchased more expensive cables which helped more but it would basically recognize the screen twice after turning off and on again then it wouldn’t. To get it to recognize the screen again I’d have to unplug the USB-c cable from the computer and plug it into the other usb c port. However, I just updated the bios and it appears to no longer recognize the screen even when I unplug the usb c cable and switch it to the other usb c port. I don’t even get the “no signal” text on the screen.

Before updating the bios I noticed if it didn’t recognize the usb c touchscreen first and recognized my hdmi screen first instead, it wouldn’t ever recognize the usb c screen.

I don’t know what else to try to get this to work at this point. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Ok, so I think it’s working now? It’s been recognizing the screen for maybe over a week now. I feel a little dumb, but I think what finally solved the problem was after putting in the new cable I needed to also unplug the computer then plug it back in. I had stopped power cycling it when the usb 3 cable sort of worked when I would switch usb c ports. But it stopped working when I upgraded to a usb 4 cable so I tried power cycling again, and that to have fixed the issue.

So yeah, in case anyone has the same issue, power cycle after you try hooking up a new cable.

Apparently I spoke too soon… screen didn’t turn on today. It did when I power cycled again.
