Framework Laptop 13 Ultra 1 stop charging and start resetting itself

Hi all,

I have a Framework Laptop 13 Ultra 1 64GB 1 TB, two years old, with Debian 13 & Windows 10
A couple of weeks ago, using Linux (99% of time), it resetted itself abruptly.

Restarted with no problem.

Today I noticed that the battery was no longer charging.

After numerous tests, changing chargers, multiports, and swapping modules, I found that the ports on the left side no longer work and won’t charge, regardless of which modules are inserted.

The ones on the right side, however, work properly and even charge.

I also noticed that the laptop resets every few hours.
What can I do to diagnose the problem?

Thank you all so much.

I have this exact same issue. I’m using the Ryzen HX370 and Fedora 43 though.

The random resets stopped for me after removing all USB A modules (USB A module also killed a few flash drives somehow). I have never had this issue until the last couple weeks.

For the left side charging ports, if you leave it powered off long enough or sometimes do a battery disconnect for a little bit usually it will charge for a few hours on the left side. Others on the forum have noted issues with the rear left charging port as well. I previously only had issues with the rear left but within the last few weeks the front left has stopped working as well too.

I have given up on all the modules except the USB C and just use an anker dongle for everything else. I’ve had intermittent USB A and 1 TB storage card disconnects since my initial Intel 11th gen that has persisted through multiple Ryen 7840u boards and now the HX 370.

I followed your advice.
I tried disconnetting all port modules on the left including USB-A, but that didn’t work.
The laptop keeps resetting every couple of hours when I’m using Linux, more rarely if I’m using Windows11.
I noticed that the laptop charges if I connect the power supply directly to a port, and sees the peripherals if I connect them with an Anker USB3 adapter.
However, if I connect the power supply to the multiport adapter, then the PC does not charge. This forces me to use two USB3 ports, one for the power supply, the other for the Anker multiport.
Finally a new behavior. If the laptop has power, you can’t turn it off because it always restarts.
To turn it off you must first unplug the power supply.
Can anyone suggest where the fault might be?
Many thanks. Marco
