I don’t think an LLM is reliable for such a task. Some people have a more charitable interpretation of what DHH said in that blog post and this one shows some examples of mischaracterizations:
But overall I wouldn’t say that DHH’s views on migration are any different from what half of Europeans or Americans believe in these days (unfortunately).
Prompting an LLM means that it will generate a linguistically appropriate response, nothing more. So even when several different models generate similar responses, that doesn’t mean that the response is factually accurate.

Some facts on a few Linux distributions:
- Omarchy was started 5 months ago, has 172 contributors listed and 13600 stars on GitHub
- Bazzite is 2 years old, 137 contributors listed and 6400 stars on GitHub
- CachyOS is 1.5 years old, it’s spread over many GitHub repositories, has less than 50 contributors in total and maybe around 2000 stars summed up

These are some of the strongest growing new Linux distributions, but it’s pretty clear, that Omarchy is on a league of its own.
There is absolute legit interest for Framework to provide Omarchy with machines to test.
Framework has never sponsored Omarchy or DHH. But they supposedly did provide at least a machine for testing purposes to the project. This is not sponsoring.

Small thinking point: Where are all the people here who want to stop supporting Framework going to go to get computers that don’t use any parts made in places like China? China’s actual government not only has similar objectionable ideas to DHH, but it actually acts on them!

You are far from the first person to make that point, so I suggest you read some of the post history. The short version is that China doesn’t care if we stop buying from them, but Framework might. Also, nearly every supply chain involves China at some point, but Framework has competitors.

I’m sorry, are we forgetting that words actually do things? Propaganda isn’t real, or what? Normalization?
The riots happening at all, the fact that theyre growing more bold, and now the alt-right being in positions of power globally and can put laws in place, kind of disproves that “it’s just an opinion”. This isn’t coming from nowhere, and it’s not coming from any legitimate concerns because none of their “opinions” are based in fact. For example, no one cared about trans people using a public bathroom until people with platforms shifted the perspective to make them out as rapists (which is proven wrong time and time again) and politicians started running platforms based on it, giving the concept legitimacy. And of course, other hateful people, who didn’t know about it prior, are happy to go along with it without question, because their views aren’t based on reality, its based on a need for superiority over others. But laws still get put into place as more and more people believe it, and more and more of their targets die as a consequence. Which is then celebrated.
Giving alt-right people a platform, including promoting and funding them (inherently, because it’s a project they started, therefore has their name on it), is directly harmful to these communities. You are sending people to a community made by someone who has intent to harm, and they’re going to this person with the thought that they can be trusted as a knowledgeable source, because they trust you. You are, intentionally or not, spreading their rhetoric to others, and it is, at best, completely irresponsible.
No one has called for Framework to shut down, and believing that people bringing up their concerns and chosing to put their money (not yours) somewhere else until it’s addressed, is in any way equivalent, is ridiculous. No, we don’t want Framework bankrupt. No, we don’t hate what their company is about. No, this isnt coordinated by "the woke mob”. And no, actually, we don’t even care if you’re using the programs being funded. What we want is for Framework to take a step back and show (not just say and then do the opposite) that minorities will be safe, welcome, and heard in their community, and won’t invite in those that are out to harm or intimidate us. We aren’t going to stick around when the “tent” is full of people promoting the idea that ICE isn’t disappearing enough people, or that I shouldn’t have access to healthcare. Something something nazi bar. If anything, thats what’s going to bankrupt them.
Also, hot take perhaps, but this thread shouldn’t be debating about whether we’re “right” to be upset or not, because it isn’t up to you, and unless you’re also being targetted by the people being supported, it doesn’t even concern you. Lots of “who cares, this is stupid” from those who claim it doesn’t matter, but then continuing to argue and bicker and sealion and nitpick and make jabs at every little thing that comes from someone who says they’re disappointed? Clearly you care a whole lot more than we do, but only about taking over the conversation. By all means, share your opinion! Its important for Framework to get an idea of how the community is feeling, amd putting in your take on the matter is important in that. But when you start ”ERM, ACKSHUALLY, TEKNICALLY” a person’s feelings about something? Be honest, what are you trying to achieve? Because it sure doesnt imply you’re coming from a place of good faith or a desire to genuinely understand. And the thread wouldn’t be this unbearably long if it wasn’t happening either. This thread has become absolutely disgusting with whats being thrown around and considered normal or acceptable.
And pre-emptively, before y’all start wanting to debate me too: Didnt ask, not answering. I dont do free labor for people who allegedly “dont care”. My time and energy goes to things that actually matter to me, you should try it.
Edit: Uh this looked a lot shorter on my phone lmao, sorry. Tldr: If you dont care, say so and leave but don’t pretend theres an objective way to feel, or pretend that the alt-right is “harmless” or “unrelated” when Framework is giving them money, laptops, and promotions.

So you forgot the paragraph prior, but I’ll let you have just this one. Yes, I do, until said speech starts getting people killed. Also, freedom of speech is about the government punishing you, not freedom to say whatever you want as a private person without consequence. Hope that helps!

Fair, I really hope you find a special someone who is able to understand you (/serious).
I do think there is a significant (perhaps even exponential) increase of both the quantity and severity of threats people receive online when they are part of BIPOC, neurodivergent, queer, etc., and even more so when they are interacting online in high-profile spaces like a popular FOSS community. I know several neurodivergent, queer, BIPOC people who had to delete their social media as they were worried about their wellbeing and the people around them; and also made themselves very difficult to reach out to (often via Matrix or god forbid even IRC)
I recommend you to watch this segment of an interview to (hopefully) give you a better overview of the results of harassments and why people simply don’t want to work with those kinds of people:

Support can have many levels. Will I enthusiastically recommend Framework if they (however indirectly) legitimize far-right people? Probably not. Will I begrudgingly use my device and buy replacement parts? Probably.
