FRWK16 - AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.9.1 - ISSUES

Welp here is 25.3.1. If anyone wants to try it and report back, otherwise I’ll try to do so this evening. Supposedly this is supposed to have a fix for it but didn’t see it in the release notes.

Thanks for the heads up! That’s great got released earlier than reported (3/20). I just installed it (Driver Only install option with factory reset) and so far no issues related to this release.

FW16 Ryzen9 7940HS
64 Gb(2×32) Kingston Fury DDR5 5600
4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD
Windows 11 Pro 24H2
I don’t have the dGPU

Just tested on FW13 (Ryzen7 7840U) with 96/128Gb as well as on FW16 (Ryzen9 7940HS) with 96/128Gb (swapped RAM for tests). No issues with that new version!
Dynamic Refresh Rate now working with 96Gb as well as 128Gb!

Can one of you who has updated and has 64GiB or more RAM try hibernation?

Just tried FW13 with 128GB… While selecting “Hibernate”, it’s switched off in ~6-7 seconds.

For Double Boot: Win11/Ubuntu:

  • When power on - it shows Framework logo and then Black screen.
  • Restart helps, but hibernate looks like not working…

For just Win11 (removed SSD with Ubuntu):

  • Restored with no issues… but was ~7-8 seconds (just restart took about same time, but you have all your opened apps available - tried Chrome + MS Word)

I am happy to report a successful install with 25.3.1 on 96GB of RAM. Finally.

Weird, the XMG rep said this issue would be fixed on 25.3.2, not .1

Not complaining though, successfully installed the drivers with 96 GB of RAM

Finally fixed the problem. I installed it on a 64Gb system and everything works fine.

I just installed the above and everything works as expected.

RX 7700S + 96.0 GB

If you set in bios „igpu memory” to gaming then hibernation works. I have 64 GB RAM

I have “Auto” and it also works fine. That said, it should not be related.
For me only Double boot failed.

I have not experienced yet issue with hibernate but it was statement from Kiram (framework’s developer ) in GitHub issue that it can happen

For anyone who have AMD chipset driver install stuck at 0% as of 25.3.1 in Windows, go to “C:\AMD\AMDSoftwareInstaller_DIME_Chipset\7.02.13.148\AMDChipsetInstaller.exe” and install the chipset from here and restart the PC

I have same issue while trying previous versions. The last workable was 24.2.1 for me with 96Gb. Now it’s fine with 25.3.1 as well. However after installation new driver first restart indeed “lost” iGPU. But re-activating and restarting works great:

UPD: Actually I’m using 3.05 BIOS FW13 / FW16 as 3.06 not released yet… So maybe there some issues with new version?

I just turn off anti-virus as chipset installation stopped on 0% as well. With anti-virus temporarily disabled it was proceed fine. But good to know the manual steps as well!

Unfortunately, it’s not as good as I thought - my wife’s FW13 with same configuration (different Batch, later one) - did not recover from Hibernate (same BIOS 3.05, I placed same RAM). It shows black screen and LED indicators blinking with green, then red, green, blue and green again and after that it’s not responsive at all. With my FW13 there no such issues.

I’m having similar problems here. Playing almost any game on steam causes blue screen of death. If I reinstall the driver bundle, I get to play a game once, and then, using any Windows apps at all, it randomly crashes. I spent so much money on this for it to just crash in the middle of class. I ponied up for the bigger GPU unit because I heard the integrated one wasn’t well supported. That’s another big purchase. If it doesn’t solve the problem, I don’t know what I’m going to do. It doesn’t seem like Framework wants to support it’s own products which is really unfortunate.

Just tried out the new AMD driver. Works great on my Framework 16 w/ 128GB of RAM.

I’m using Framework 16 with eGPU and no issues at all. Any TB3 / TB4 boxes works great. I got ~92-94% of the card performance, so not a huge loss.

With this (Razer Core) I could play any AAA+ game (1440p) on Ultra+ on FW16 with no issues (however I used it for ML/AI staff mostly  ). NOTE: That eGPU box I bought ~5 years ago (just changed card there and replaced PSU to 850W)

Its not the topic. The Topic was driverissues in 32+GB Ram configs
