I think it would be awesome if Framework offered an all-aluminum case very similar to the Mac Studio for the desktop motherboard.
I just purchased the Framework Desktop Mainboard Ryzen AI Max 395 with 64GB, that I would love to put into this case. Only problem is, it doesn’t exist. Yet?
I’m a huge fan of cases that let me install the motherboard horizontally, so everything inside the system lays flat, except PCIe expansion cards of course.
One of main reasons I decided to go for just the Motherboard & not the complete system (besides the fact I saved $300) is I can’t stand plastic cases & didn’t feel the case & PSU are worth $300 that Framework offers.
Any suggestions from anyone on a “flat” case for the FW 395 motherboard similar to the Mac Studio?
Edit: Unfortunately the website does not have all the measurements needed to assess suitability for a Desktop motherboard, cooler and fan. It says “70mm” but does not provide internal endpoint measurements with the frame installed. I think the FW requires 92mm internal
Indeed. I wish Framework had just put the 2 extra USB ports on the I/O shield. Without the front USB ports, there is more room in the case to put in longer (>150mm) PSUs.
You can still mod the case or I/O shield by using this cable. You will likely lose your warranty though.
