FW13 Intel Ultra 7 155H - P-core overheating at low usage when watching video

Model: Framework 13 Intel Ultra 7 155H
OS: Windows 11 Home

When there is a video on screen (youtube, twitch or zoom video call), the fan is running at max speed. This does not occur when the video is running in background with other tabs/windows over the video. I checked the individual core temperatures with HWiNFO. Only some of the P-cores (cores 10, 11, 12, 13) reach high temperatures (around 100 degC) and get thermal throttled. The P-cores are at 70-80% usage.

My drivers are up to date and I tried disabling hardware acceleration of the browser used (firefox). I also tried to reduce the refresh rate of the screen (120 Hz to 60 Hz), but it did not change anything.

Is there anything that can be done to address this as the fan gets noisy as soon as there is a video on screen?

Thank you!

The same issue here but using Linux distros!

I’m very disappointed with this processor, and especially with the board’s design, which I believe is responsible for the overheating. Worst of all is the fan noise.

Same here with Ultra 5 and Linux distros. I wrote to support, but they told me these are “normal“ temperatures. I am still looking a solution, I try with a thermal pad but have same temperatures, at least the keyboard is not so hot now. But It is really annoying, I can’t work with my laptop, just with a video it turns hot. Imagine with a videocall!
