FW16 Batch 1 Guild

you’ve probably already seen this knowledgebase article, but i reckon that anything from a known brand (like, crucial) will probably be fine

Right, exactly what I was referring to.

@TheTwistgibber with machines shipping within days - what is a realistic time to expect the update to the RAM compatibility KB page? Particularly the 3rd party “common retail” units reference. Thanks!

i’d reasonably expect to wait until mid next week to have numbers published for at least some of the common units they mention in the article, although this is definitely a bit of a “source: dude trust me” kinda moment since i’m basing that off of basically nothing

I’ve updated the KB article and we’ve just got word back on the following as they passed internal testing (will update KBs with this tomorrow):

2280 SSDs

  1. Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2 2280 MZ-V9P2T0B/AM

  3. Sabrent Q4 2230 2TB M.2 2230 SB-213Q-2TB

DDR5 Modules

Nice! My SSD and RAM are both on that list.

that was fast…much appreciated @TheTwistgibber

Is there explanation on what substantiates “limited” vs “full” in those KB?

@TheTwistgibber Are you going to officially validate any of the 48GB SODIMMs?

I suspect it refers to the thoroughness of the validation. Full probably means that they have tested many modules in many laptops with many different stress tests, whereas limited probably means only a couple modules and only in a handful of stress tests.

The Mushkin MRA5S560LKKD48GX2 kit (which is a 2-pack of 48GB dimms) is already on the validated list.

It is? Must be on the updated list, the list before it was updated I didn’t see a 48GB kit on.

Nice to see they’re also validating the bigger kits.

heh. Have these sitting on my desk waiting.

Only missing the hardware :slight_smile:

Well, I may have to wait a little longer → Europe/France :}
UPDATE: Actually - just had the E-Mail plop telling me that same thing :smiley:

After having seen the reviews, I asked a last-minute modification: the spacers at the touchpad to be grey, and the bezel to be red :} Kind of looks cool on some videos :}

I’m batch 7. But as the ‘7’ looks like a ‘1’, may be they could make the confusion and send me the email too… :innocent:

the spacers beside the touchpad are always grey, they are different from the spacers beside the keyboard (touchpad spacers are shorter) and they can’t have any additional functionality like LEDs or buttons (yet?).

Maybe you know this already, but just wanted to make sure.

As Batch 3 I am very excited for you guys and myself. Maybe this means Batch 3 gets shipped before the chinese New Year break?

Dude some of Batch 1 might ship after new year…

Given the contents of the email, there’s some of us in Batch 1 who won’t see anything until March
