FW16 Driver Bundle 2024-10-02 breaks Wi-Fi on Windows 10 (?)

Tried to upgrade my Framework 16 bios to Driver Bundle 2024-10-02 on Win 10 (22H2) and when it was finished, my WiFi options completely disappeared both in the network task bar popup and in the Network & Internet setting page.
I rolled back and reloaded Driver Bundle 2024-04-02 and WiFi was restored.
My Framework 16 has the stock default AMD/MediaTek RZ616 Wi-Fi 6E chip set.
Anyone else had this inability to use Wi-Fi after upgrading the bios to the 2024-10-02 drivers on Windows 10 ?
I hope the answer is not going to be “We only support Windows 11” as I have previously gotten from Framwork support !
I refuse to have Microsoft’s intrusive monitoring and potential spyware under Windows 11 on my PC.

Good, then it is clear the Framework Laptop 16 is being operated outside the supported operating system. There are many flavors of Linux (two distributions of which are supported by Framework) to consider over a Microsoft operating system.

So the homework would be to find out what version of driver was used in the Driver Bundle from 2024-Apr-02. Download that driver set separately, and manually force the device to use the older driver that worked previously.

Ideally just changing the driver back should restore functionality, though it would take fully deconstructing the latest driver bundle to see if something else needs to be held back from the driver bundle update.

If the concern is really about telemetry and spyware; see the tool created by Chris Titus for cutting out the feedback along with customizing the firewall to block literally everything except only what is desired to be transmitted in our out of the laptop.

In case someone needs it, here’s the Driver Bundle 2024-04-02

It’s not officially supported. However, if you take a look inside the exe (using something like 7-Zip), you can find out that most of the important ones (graphics, chipset) is just copy-paste from AMD.

AMD provides drivers for the 7040 series for Win10. Just get those.

Now some other things (wifi, fingerprint) can be hit or miss. I used my own wifi card, so I don’t know. Fingerprint is a simple driver, and it worked fine.

I think instead of just point finger and say “dude just stop use Win10”, we should at least attempt to provide useful information.

And at the end of the day, if trying to put Hanna Montana Linux on a … Dell Alienware (why not) doesn’t void it’s warranty, then we should probably be more inclusive with people’s choice of OS as well.

I don’t know. It’s a Mediatek … MT7922A22M.

There seem to be drivers from Dell, but I won’t be running their installer. You can extract the package and find the inf file and install driver manually (devmgmt), but I won’t be too surprised if it doesn’t work.

Microsoft Update Catalog have it for Windows 11. Mmmmm…

If I remember correctly, the latest BIOS release version was just to correct an issue with the driver installer not working properly on Windows 11 24H2. The drivers should be the same.

You shouldn’t really be losing anything from using the older installer. Maybe the changes for 24H2 broke something for Windows 10?
