HDMI not detected after resuming from suspend

Which Linux distro are you using?

Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS

Which release version?
(if rolling release without a release version, skip this question)

(If rolling release, last date updated?)

Which kernel are you using?

6.14.0-28-generic

Which BIOS version are you using?

03.04

Which Framework Laptop 13 model are you using? (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series, AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series, Intel® Core™ Ultra Series 1, 13th Gen Intel® Core™ , 12th Gen Intel® Core™, 11th Gen Intel® Core™)

AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 w/ Radeon 860M

Behavior: HDMI port is in the front right slot. Second monitor is working. I close the laptop and disconnect the HDMI cable. I wait 10 minutes (once when still plugged into power, once on batter). I open the laptop and plug the HDMI cable back in. External monitor is not detected. If I reboot the laptop, the external monitor will be detected again.

Expected behavior: The external monitor will be detected when I plug in an HDMI cable, even after resuming from suspend.

Any suggestions?

Thank you!

@Michael_Weinberg Any docks or switches being used? Asking as you mentioned a second monitor… not sure if you meant second external monitor or not.

You may want to shoot our support team a message here so our Linux team can take a look, if needed.

No docks or switches - just an HDMI cable into the monitor. I’ll hit up the Linux team. Thanks!

Did you have any improvement since your post? I have the same model with 3.05 BIOS and have this issue. I can fix it by plugging the expansion card on the other side of the laptop (from right to left or left to right). It’s an absurd situation. The support asked me to gather some logs.

By the way, I have issues with expansion cards that disconnect sometimes. I use Debian testing with 6.18.9 kernel.

I get this issue on Arch Linux with kernel 6.18.9 on a Ryzen AI 7 350
