Recently finding that my connection to my home WiFi (Xfinity here in the U.S is having issues with staying connected. For whatever reason after some time of being connected to the internet, I’ll be connected to my modem perfectly but websites and other apps unable to load remote content. This doesn’t happen on any other WiFi network besides my home network

Using the standard MT7925 WiFi card

If using the WiFi from Xfinity their device could be suspect unless other devices can still reach the Internet while the Framework stops responding.

When I had a Mediatek WiFi card in my Framework Laptop 16 it would regularly drop out and disconnect. Not enough to really be defective but annoying enough that I got fed up with it and installed the Intel AX210 card and have never had an issue since.

Since it is unique to the home network that indicates something is different with how the home hardware connects to the Internet.

I’ve heard some people talking about the Qualcomm modems as well

Wondering if this might fix my dropout issue

Officially the Qualcomm card is not supported by Framework so they have the right to not assist if it is something they do not officially support and related to this component.

The AX210 card is cheap, reliable, and has had fewer issues reported on the forums here comparatively. There is also the risk that the card might be defective but that is a lot of hassle to go through if the replacement card exhibits the same issue.

Others have reported success with the Qualcomm card but its support on Linux might depend on the model. At least with these four cards Framework offers; they have all been tested to work with their hardware well enough to be sold with the units new. (The AX211 card will NOT work on AMD platforms; it requires an Intel processor to operate correctly)
