Really. I’ve been in Costa Rica the past two weeks and have been using the relatively new Thinkpad X1 Carbon I keep here. The Thinkpad is really nice, but I really miss using my Framework 13 AMD. The two are configured nearly identically, both running Manjaro linux. And the Thinkpad definitely feels more solid, but the FW is quicker and more responsive, and I definitely prefer the FW keyboard. (Never thought I’d say that!). I also prefer the FW display, both the aspect ratio and the fact that it’s ridiculously bright, which is helpful here in CR.
I’ll be moving here permanently in November and the Framework’s making the move with me. Looking forward to it.
My normal setup is just the FW13, but I have two FlipGo monitors–a 13” and 16” for when I need more screen. The only feature on the Thinkpad that I wouldn’t mind on the FW13 is the touchscreen. If Framework introduces one, I’d probably install it.
That explains quite a bit. The X1 is a Gen 11, which is why it seems a bit sluggish occasionally. It’s fine, it just feels a bit sluggish compared with the FW AMD.
